Household Repairs Leather scuffed. Trim off flaps of leather with scissors or a razor blade. Rub rest of scuffed area with the palm of your hand. Brush on liquid stain polish and buff. Then apply paste polish.

Leather water-stiffened. Rub a damp rag in saddle soap and rub vigorously on leather. Rinse with a rag dampened in clear water. Let dry (don't expose to heat). Then apply polish.

Patent leather cracked. You can't mend cracks but you can prevent additional cracking by rubbing vaseline vigorously into leather.

Moccasin seams split. Pick out broken threads. Resew with heavy cotton or linen thread coated with beeswax. Run thread through old holes.

Inner sole loose. Remove and scrape off old glue. Apply Pliobond cement to lining and to base. Let dry until tacky, then stick inner sole down.

Hole in leather lining. Trim out neatly with scissors. Cut a patch out of thin, soft leather like that used for inner soles. Feather the edges as much as possible with a razor blade. Then apply Pliobond cement to back of patch and around edges of hole. Let dry until tacky, then smooth patch in place.
