Household Repairs End broken off. With pliers firmly grasp the top coil at a distance from the end equal to a full turn of the coil. Hold spring below this point with another pair of pliers. Bend top coil sharply upward. Form new loop that will hook into the screw eye or whatever the spring was attached to.

Coils misshapen. All you can do is pinch them together with pliers.

Not springy enough. Lengthen slightly by stretching.
