Household Repairs Holes in galvanized can. Remove rust from around hole with steel wool and spread on plastic steel.

Seams in copper can open. Clean thoroughly inside and out with steel wool. Bring edges together. Then apply solder (see Basic Methods: How to Solder Metal).

End of spout collapsed. Depending on the size of the spout, open it as much as possible with a screwdriver or nail. Then, to shape the opening properly, tap in a round of hardwood (such as a broomstick or dowel) which has been sharpened slightly at the end.

Sprinkler head clogged. Remove from can and scrape the inside of the head with a screwdriver. Then open the holes by inserting a stiff wire from the outside.
