Wont wind up properly. Pull shade down two-thuds. Remove roller from brackets and roll up shade by hand. Replace roller in brackets. Shade should now roll up properly, but if it doesn't, repeat process.
Snaps up violently when raised. Raise shade to top. Remove roller from brackets. Unroll shade by hand half its length. Replace in brackets. Repeat procedure if shade is still too tight.
Wont catch when rolled down. Remove roller from brackets. Clean and oil ratchets on the flat rotating pin.
Roller falls out of brackets. Remove bracket from one side of window and move it in toward window a fraction of an inch. If brackets are mounted inside the window frame, insert cardboard or wood shims underneath one of the brackets.
Fabric torn. Cover tear with adhesive-backed cloth mending tape.
Bindings broken on bamboo or split wood shades. Unroll shade on floor and remove broken bindings. Cut a new cotton cord about three times the length of the shade and fold it in two equal lengths. Loop it around bottom wood strip and tie with a square knot; then loop it around next strip and tie, and so on to the top of the shade.
